Mary Tiso, RN, MS, CNL
Mary brings to Avila Home Care a deep love of serving people of all ages, and believes firmly in helping people remain in the place they call home where they are most comfortable for as long as possible.
Mary graduated from nursing school from the University of Maryland at Baltimore in 2007 from their Clinical Nurse Leader program. She worked for several years in Baltimore and then as a travel nurse, in Pediatric ICUs and Pediatric Cardiac ICUs. Mary then transitioned to Gilchrist Hospice as the Clinical Manager for their Pediatric Hospice team, which is where she developed her love for home care.
In 2019 after the birth of her second daughter, Mary began working as a liaison at Gilchrist Hospice with both pediatric and adult patients to assist hospitalized patients in their transition to hospice care. In 2021, Mary was introduced to the Avila Leadership Team, and began working as a nurse for Avila.
Mary is passionate about meeting people where they are at physically, emotionally and spiritually. Mary shares, “It’s so important that nurses and Caregivers provide compassionate listening and understanding.” She is married and lives in Baltimore with her husband and 2 young daughters. Mary enjoys spending time outside with her family and friends, and getting away to the beach as often as possible.
