One Year Later, Avila Continues to Provide Compassionate Care

Today is our birthday.  One year ago, today, Avila Home Care began this great adventure of serving clients.  That first day, three caregivers served two clients.  I remember meeting our first caregivers at our clients’ homes that day.  Would the caregivers show up?  Would they do a good job?  Will we have the opportunity to serve more clients?  Will we be able to find enough great caregivers?  Lots of questions.  Few answers.

One year later, I am overwhelmed with a sense of deep gratitude.  Today, we have over 100 caregivers on our active roster who do an amazing job serving the wonderful families who have invited us to partner with them in the care for their loved ones.  Our caregivers are deeply compassionate professionals who truly live to serve others.

I was on the phone the other day with the son of one of our clients who told me how incredibly grateful he is for Wendy and Nusrat (two of our caregivers).  He was so thankful for their patience, compassion, and love for his mom.  These phone calls are not unusual – but they never get old.

Our reputation for outstanding care is growing.  Last week, someone posted on NextDoor.com that they needed assistance for a loved one.  Person after person said, “call Avila Home Care, they have a great team of caregivers.”  Not only did the person who posted the question call and arrange for us to care for their loved one, another person who simply observed the thread also called and we start care for his sister tomorrow.

We have been invited to partner with some of the largest and most respected hospitals and nursing homes in the area.    The phone is now regularly ringing with social workers and other professionals in the fields of health care and aging who have recognized that we are a trusted partner and that anyone they refer to us will receive outstanding care.

Last week I had the privilege of officiating the funeral for one of our clients who recently passed away.  Her son and her caregiver both expressed profound thanks for us having joined them together.  What a privilege for me.  We make a great match between a caregiver (or team of caregivers) and a family – and then we watch what God does.  It is beautiful to behold.

I’m profoundly grateful for all who have contributed to our first year being such a resounding success:  Our amazing caregivers, our incredibly dedicated office staff, our great Registered Nurses, the wonderful families who have trusted us, professional colleagues who have advised us and provided needed services, and everyone who has recommended Avila Home Care to someone they know.  Like just about everything else in life, this is a team sport!

Happy Birthday to Avila!  One year in the books and, by God’s grace, many more to come!

Sharing is caring!
