Meet Tamara Price,
Registered Nurse at Avila Home Care!

Tamara Price, RN, joined the Avila Home Care team in 2018 with over 12 years of experience working as a Caregiver and a Nurse. “My heart leads when providing care to others. Medical knowledge, training and experience are of course foundational assets to our line of work, but providing care from the heart makes Avila Home Care who we are.”

Caring for others has always come naturally to Tamara. Being the oldest of three children, she was “trained” in caregiving from an early age.  Ever since she was a child, she knew that she wanted to work in the medical field to care for others who needed assistance.

Tamara received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland in 2005, where she majored in Kinesiology.

Tamara then became a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) as part of her Registered Nursing (RN) degree from Coppin State University, where she graduated from in 2009. During her time at Coppin State, she began working at Good Samaritan Hospital in outpatient rehabilitation as Rehab tech (2005-2007), then a CNA (2007-2009), and a floor nurse (2009-2010). In 2010, she was promoted to the position of a permanent charge nurse (2010-2013). “Nursing became my passion as a career, but also provided a sense of fulfillment in my life.”

Following her time at Good Samaritan, Tamara worked at Seasons Hospice for five years, where she was passionate about working with patients and families in hospice and end of life care.

In 2018, Tamara joined the nursing team at Avila Home Care after meeting Danny O’Brien, Avila Home Care’s Founder and CEO, through a mutual friend who is a nurse and went to Grace Fellowship Church. Tamara believes that serving the geriatric population and their families in the comfort of their own homes is such an intimate experience, and she feels incredibly honored to be invited into clients’ homes to walk beside them in their journey.

“Working with a relatively small team at Avila versus a large health care institution allows us to have very close communication with Avila team members, our clients and their loved ones. We are able to be the true definition of a team- everyone works together and has their role- Avila’s nurses, Caregivers, our clients and their loved ones- to ensure the absolute best care.”

Tamara has two children, daughter Morgan (age 9) and son Cameron (age 4) with whom she loves spending quiet time and reading.
